Secret, super hero power? Always calm in a crisis
Briefly:
Jeff is big of fan of open source technologies. He loves helping people learn to play with different publishing tools and be creative online.
While in graduate school studying media and culture, Jeff started tinkering around with Drupal to help out a professor and ended up building a website for her upcoming film. This experience got him started and turned into more freelancing gigs and the chance to work with artists, academics, community groups and other creative types, building publishing platforms and helping to create online strategies.
Jeff's previous research looked at online communities, examining the processes of collaborative production and the orchestration of online participation. He's interested in the ways open source technologies can democratize access to culture and their capacity to help build a more engaged public. With a research background, development experience and passion for education, Jeff can translate "geek speak" to the uninitiated and help anyone understand what's possible online.
